About The Position

Our mission at Small Animal Emergency Services is simple: provide exceptional emergency and critical care for the pets of Vass, NC while simultaneously offering comfort, compassion, and support to the people who love them. We are committed to maintaining a clean, welcoming, and professional environment where both our patients and team members can thrive. Our busy emergency hospital sees an average of 500 patients each month and is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities; including an in-house IDEXX laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, and therapeutic laser technology. This allows our team to deliver high-quality, timely care for a wide variety of cases! No two shifts are ever the same. Our medical team manages everything from minor injuries and routine emergencies to complex critical cases, such as septic ruptures, orthopedic trauma, cardiac arrest, and more. The diverse caseload offers continual opportunities to challenge and expand your clinical skills while making a meaningful impact on the lives of pets and their families. Our hours of operation are: Monday - Friday: 06:00 pm ~ 08:00 am Saturday & Sunday: 24 Hours

Requirements

  • An experienced veterinary assistant with a minimum of 2+ year experience required
  • Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
  • May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases
  • Compassionate and calm team-player
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards

Nice To Haves

  • ER experience is highly preferred, however it is not required for more experienced applicants
