About The Position

Animal Emergency Clinic and Intensive Care Facility in Shreveport, Louisiana, is seeking an ER Veterinary Technician. This practice emphasizes a supportive, tight-knit team environment where patients are treated with exceptional care. The facility is equipped with the latest digital and surgical technology to handle urgent, critical, and life-threatening conditions, including advanced surgical facilities, digital radiography, ultrasound, oxygen therapy, and in-house bloodwork. The nature of Emergency and Critical Care medicine requires weekend and some overnight shifts, providing care around the clock from Saturday to Monday morning.

Requirements

1+ year professional experience required
Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
Availability to work weekends and overnights is required
Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards

Nice To Haves

Registered Veterinary Technician preferred, but not required
Previous ER / Urgent Care experience is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

Animal restraint
Triage of incoming patients
Collection and analysis of lab samples
Diagnostic imaging
Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
Administration of medications
Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
Surgical preparation and assistance
Anesthetic management
