Emergency Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant – Overnight Part-Time & Full-Time Opportunities Available Pacific Care Pet Emergency & Specialty | Irvine, CA Schedule: Overnight shifts beginning at 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM | Days flexible/open Compensation Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT): Up to $34.00/hour Experienced/Seasoned Veterinary Assistant: Up to $30.00/hour Compensation based on experience, credentials, and technical skill level Build your emergency veterinary career with Pacific Care Pet Emergency & Specialty. We are seeking experienced Veterinary Technicians, Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), and skilled Veterinary Assistants to join our overnight Emergency & Critical Care team. Whether you're looking for a full-time ER position or a flexible part-time opportunity, this role is ideal for someone with strong technical skills who thrives in a fast-paced emergency and specialty hospital. At Pacific Care Pet Emergency & Specialty, care, collaboration, and comprehensive expertise drive everything we do. Our specialty and emergency veterinary hospital provides advanced care across Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, and other specialty services. You'll work alongside experienced emergency veterinarians, specialists, RVTs, Veterinary Technicians, and Veterinary Assistants while gaining exposure to complex emergency, critical care, and hospitalized cases.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on veterinary clinical experience; Emergency, Critical Care, ICU, Specialty, or Urgent Care experience required.
  • Strong venipuncture, blood draw, and IV catheter placement skills.
  • Experience with veterinary anesthesia, sedation, patient monitoring, and recovery.
  • Comfortable managing multiple patients and priorities in a fast-paced ER environment.
  • Strong communication, critical-thinking, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during high-volume and critical cases.

Nice To Haves

  • California RVT credential preferred for Veterinary Technician candidates.
  • Experienced, non-credentialed Veterinary Assistants with a strong emergency technical skill set are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Triage and assess incoming emergency patients and help prioritize care based on acuity.
  • Provide hands-on emergency and critical care, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, medication administration, wound care, and CPR support.
  • Obtain and process bloodwork, urinalysis, and other diagnostic samples and assist with diagnostic imaging.
  • Monitor hospitalized and critical patients and quickly recognize and communicate changes in patient status.
  • Assist with sedation, anesthesia monitoring, surgical preparation, and patient recovery.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and document treatments and patient progress.
  • Communicate compassionately with pet owners and provide clear discharge and aftercare instructions.
  • Float between departments as needed and support efficient patient flow throughout the hospital.
