ER Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
Small Animal Emergency Services is seeking an ER Veterinary Assistant to provide exceptional emergency and critical care for pets in Vass, NC. Our busy emergency hospital sees an average of 500 patients each month and is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including an in-house laboratory, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, and therapeutic laser technology. This role offers continuous opportunities to challenge and expand clinical skills in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday: 6:00 pm - 8:00 am, and Saturday & Sunday: 24 Hours.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a veterinary assistant
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Compassionate and calm team-player
- Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
- Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
- Knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
- Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
- Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
- Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
Nice To Haves
- ER experience is highly preferred, however it is not required for more experienced applicants.
