About The Position

Points East Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Fayetteville, North Carolina is seeking an ER/UC Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join their team. This role is part of an expansion and growth within a 7,000 square foot facility. Various schedules are available. Points East Veterinary Emergency Hospital has been providing after-hours small animal emergency care to the Fayetteville region for over 30 years and serves over 40 referring hospitals. The hospital benefits from having three sister emergency hospitals, allowing for shared resources and knowledge. Fayetteville is a growing city with a rich culture, military history, and is conveniently located near Raleigh, Wilmington, and Pinehurst.

Requirements

• Knowledge with Idexx Bloodwork Machines
• Experience in surgical monitoring, prep and intubation
• Knowledge in performing CPR
• Knowledge in EKG setup
• General Anatomy Knowledge
• Triaging Knowledge
• Understanding normal vital signs and values
• General Knowledge of commonly used medications
• Ability to perform well and keep calm in high volume ER
• Have a can-do attitude and initiative

Nice To Haves

• ER or Urgent Care experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Obtain a manual blood pressure
• Prepare and interpret a manual urinalysis
• Perform consistent venipuncture
• Monitor, prep, and intubate for surgery
• Set up and interpret a PCV
• Perform CPR
• Set up an EKG
• Triage patients
• Perform general anatomy knowledge
• Understand normal vital signs and values
• Administer commonly used medications
• Perform well and remain calm in high volume ER situations
