VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is adding an experienced Veterinary Assistant to our overnight team. This is a part-time position working Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 10 pm. Requirements

  • Experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts, including weekends.
  • Proficiency in animal handling and restraint techniques.
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic diagnostic procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an emergency or specialty veterinary setting.
  • Certification or degree in veterinary technology.
  • Familiarity with veterinary practice management software.
  • Low-Stress Handling, Fear Free, or AAFP Cat-Friendly certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing medical care to animals.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures, including taking radiographs and collecting laboratory samples.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
  • Monitor animal patients' conditions and report any changes to the veterinary team.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the veterinary hospital.
  • Provide compassionate care and support to animals and their owners.
  • Handle and restrain animals safely and effectively.
  • Assist with surgical procedures and post-operative care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
