About The Position

VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is adding an experienced Veterinary Assistant to our overnight ER team. This position is located at 16756 SE 82nd Dr, Clackamas, OR 97015. The compensation is $21 - $25 per hour. The schedule is full-time, Thursday to Saturday, from 12pm to 12am.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts, including Thursday to Saturday, 12pm to 12am.
  • Proficiency in basic veterinary nursing skills.
  • Knowledge of common veterinary diseases and treatments.
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals safely.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an emergency or specialty veterinary hospital.
  • Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT).
  • Experience with specific veterinary software.
  • Knowledge of advanced veterinary procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians and technicians in the emergency and critical care department.
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and alert veterinarians to any changes.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed.
  • Perform laboratory tests and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Handle client communication and provide support.
  • Assist with surgical procedures and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Perform euthanasia assistance and provide post-mortem care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
