Overnight Veterinary Assistant
About The Position
VCA Becker Animal Hospital and Pet Resort is seeking a full-time overnight Veterinary Assistant for its emergency department in San Antonio, Texas. The hospital provides 24/7 general practice, urgent care, and emergency services, along with boarding and grooming. The schedule is 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and the listed pay is $22.00–$23.00 per hour. The Veterinary Assistant supports veterinary technicians and doctors by helping create a positive, low-stress experience for clients and patients and providing care to hospitalized animals. The role uses skills such as patient assessment, anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, dentistry, radiology, laboratory work, venipuncture, catheter placement, pharmacy, and patient recovery. Responsibilities
- Support veterinary technician and doctor teams.
- Help create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for clients and patients.
- Deliver an outstanding client experience and help provide exceptional patient care.
- Perform physical examinations and patient assessments.
- Monitor anesthesia.
- Prepare for and assist with surgery.
- Support dentistry and radiology procedures.
- Perform laboratory work, venipuncture, and catheter placement.
- Assist with pharmacy tasks and patient recovery.
- Provide compassionate care to hospitalized animals.
