About The Position

The Equipment Operator performs project work that requires safely operating vehicles and heavy or agricultural equipment, including front-end loaders, skid steers, track-hoes, and bulldozers. The role includes handling and delivering materials, maintaining equipment and operating records, and supporting shop cleanup and setup. The position is based in West Babylon, New York, and is hourly and full-time.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Valid driver's license.
Clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
Ability to operate heavy or agricultural equipment safely.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform basic math and follow directions.
Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
The position requires overtime.
The role involves sitting, climbing, balancing, reaching, standing, walking, feeling, lifting up to 50 pounds, talking, hearing, and seeing.
The employee may be subject to confined spaces, outdoor weather conditions without effective protection, atmospheric conditions, and hazards including moving mechanical parts and vehicles, electrical current, scaffolding and high places, high heat, and bio-solids.

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of heavy equipment operator work experience is preferred.
Dump truck and/or yard jockey experience is a plus but not required.
Class A CDL is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

Operate equipment safely at all times.
Load and unload materials and deliver them promptly to assigned or approved destinations.
Represent the company in interactions with clients and the public.
Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform preventative maintenance.
Perform shop cleanup and maintenance, and set up equipment and tools.
Maintain equipment operation records.
