The Epic Systems Engineer 1 develops, implements, administers, supports, and maintains systems, policies, and procedures related to Stormont Vail’s server infrastructure, with a focus on Epic. The role supports either the front-end Windows and Linux server environments or the back-end Epic Iris databases. It works closely with Information Systems application teams and other System Engineers to complete assigned tasks and projects. Managing ongoing application requirements and ensuring effective end-user support are important aspects of the position. The engineer installs and manages application deployment platforms for production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs; applies platform and Epic upgrades; maintains backups and operating systems; troubleshoots system issues; and follows vendor and Epic configuration best practices. Responsibilities also include infrastructure projects, documentation, end-user education, availability and performance monitoring, capacity planning, change control, and participation in an after-hours on-call rotation for 24x7 support. Depending on assignment, the role may administer Epic Iris environments, databases, servers, storage, security, access, releases, and licensing. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, first-shift position. The role is not patient-facing and has no supervisory or budget responsibility. Remote-work capability is listed as hybrid, subject to Stormont Vail’s remote-work guidelines, including a quiet, distraction-free workspace, reliable electricity and internet access, and adherence to the Remote Worker Policy.
