About The Position

This position provides specialized transportation and disposal services to clients. The Environmental Specialist I samples and profiles materials and performs manifesting, packaging, spill response and remediation, labeling, loading and unloading, and transportation coordination while following state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. The role also involves maintaining professional client interactions, complying with and enforcing company procedures, preparing required hazardous-waste paperwork, and operating and maintaining equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
40-hour HAZWOPER Certification.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazardous (H) endorsement.
Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines.
Strong customer service orientation.
Computer proficiency.
Ability to follow through on assignments.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline.

Responsibilities

Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
Manifest, package, label, load and unload materials; respond to spills and perform remedial activities; and coordinate transportation.
Answer client inquiries professionally and suggest solutions to existing or potential problems.
Comply with and enforce compliance, health, safety, and procedural requirements in accordance with VES-TS policies.
Become familiar with applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and VES-TS regulations and submit paperwork to expedite hazardous-waste disposal.
Operate and maintain equipment professionally to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
Perform other duties as assigned.
