About The Position

This position provides specialized transportation and disposal services to clients. The Environmental Specialist I samples, profiles, packages, labels, manifests, loads, and unloads materials; coordinates transportation; and responds to spills and remedial needs. The role follows state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations and applicable Veolia policies. It also involves maintaining a professional image with clients, responding to inquiries, suggesting solutions, and operating and maintaining equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazardous (H) endorsement.
Strong teamwork skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines.
Strong customer service orientation.
Computer proficiency.
Ability to follow through on assignments.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline.

Responsibilities

Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
Manifest and package materials; perform spill cleanup response and remedial activities; label, load, and unload materials; and coordinate transportation.
Maintain a professional image with clients by answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing or potential problems.
Comply with and enforce compliance, health, safety, and procedural requirements in accordance with VES-TS policies.
Become familiar with U.S. DOT, EPA, and VES-TS regulations required to submit paperwork that expedites hazardous waste disposal.
Operate and maintain equipment professionally to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
Perform other duties as assigned.
