About The Position

The Environmental Specialist I provides specialized transportation and disposal services to clients at a customer site in Aliso Viejo, California. The role involves sampling and profiling materials and handling hazardous waste activities—including manifesting, packaging, spill response, labeling, loading and unloading, and transportation coordination—in compliance with applicable state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations. The specialist also responds to client inquiries, maintains equipment, and follows Veolia policies and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazardous (H) endorsement.
Strong team-player skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines.
Strong customer-service orientation.
Computer proficiency.
Ability to follow through on assignments.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science discipline.

Responsibilities

Sample waste streams according to prescribed policies and procedures.
Manifest, package, label, load and unload materials; perform spill cleanup and remedial activities; and coordinate transportation.
Answer client inquiries and suggest solutions to existing or potential problems while maintaining a professional image.
Comply with and enforce applicable compliance, health, safety, and procedural requirements in accordance with VES-TS policies.
Become familiar with applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and VES-TS regulations required for paperwork expediting hazardous-waste disposal.
Operate and maintain equipment professionally to ensure optimum efficiency and effectiveness.
Perform other duties as assigned.
