About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician helps maintain a neat, safe, and sanitary environment at UH Lakewood Medical Center. The role involves cleaning and servicing hospital areas, including patient rooms and common spaces, moving furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed, and following infection-control standards and safety procedures. The technician operates electric and battery-powered floor-care equipment and reads cleaning-chemical labels to understand their contents and first-aid instructions. The position is part-time, PRN, with a varied schedule of 4 hours per week.

Requirements

Speak and read English and communicate effectively with staff, patients, and visitors, both verbally and in writing.
Regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally handle heavier items.
Know how to operate cleaning and floor-care equipment safely and effectively.
Complete a competency assessment after training and mentoring within 30–60 days of hire.
Follow written and verbal instructions and pay attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
Experience working in a healthcare environment.
Six months of experience in environmental services duties within an institution.

Responsibilities

Clean and service hospital areas, including patient rooms and common spaces, following established procedures.
Move furniture, equipment, and supplies between departments and help set up spaces for hospital functions.
Perform tasks that maintain cleanliness while following infection-control standards and safety procedures.
Operate electric and battery-powered floor-care equipment safely and efficiently.
Read and understand cleaning-chemical labels, including product contents and first-aid instructions.
