About The Position
St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center is seeking a Phlebotomist to support patient care and laboratory operations in a fast-paced clinical environment. The role involves collecting specimens, maintaining data integrity, and supporting accurate and timely processing of patient samples across the medical center. The position may include nights and weekends as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Typing and basic computer skills.
Nice To Haves
- Phlebotomy certification (CPT) or health-related experience; on-the-job training may be provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection using proper techniques and age-appropriate devices.
- Handle and collect specimens safely to maintain specimen integrity and quality.
- Follow procedures for labeling, accessioning, and delivering specimens to the appropriate department.
- Maintain the specimen collection component of the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Perform patient registration functions for courier specimens.
- Respond promptly and professionally to STAT, ASAP, NOW, and outpatient collection requests.
- Communicate effectively with departments and alert appropriate staff regarding STAT orders.
