About The Position

University Health Truman Medical Center is seeking a PRN Environmental Services Technician to help maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary hospital environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role involves cleaning and servicing patient rooms and common areas, moving furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed, and following infection-control standards and safety procedures. The technician also operates electric and battery-powered floor-care equipment and follows cleaning-chemical labels and first-aid instructions to ensure safe use. Training and mentoring are provided, followed by a competency assessment within 30–60 days of hire.

Requirements

Ability to speak and read English and communicate effectively with staff, patients, and visitors, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally handle heavier items.
Knowledge of how to operate cleaning and floor-care equipment safely and effectively.
Ability to complete a competency assessment after training and mentoring within 30–60 days of hire.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and pay attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
Experience working in a healthcare environment.
Six months of environmental-services experience in an institution.

Responsibilities

Clean and service hospital areas, including patient rooms and common spaces, according to established procedures.
Move furniture, equipment, and supplies between departments as needed and help set up spaces for hospital functions.
Perform tasks that maintain cleanliness while following infection-control standards and safety procedures.
Operate electric and battery-powered floor-care equipment safely and efficiently.
Read and follow cleaning-chemical labels, including information about contents and first aid.
