About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing complete cleaning of assigned areas, including dusting, sanitizing, washing surfaces, and maintaining floors and carpets. This role also involves waste removal, including soiled linen, trash, and hazardous waste, and ensuring equipment is clean and functional. The technician must maintain a safe working environment by adhering to procedures, infection control guidelines, and departmental quality standards. They are also required to attend in-service education and training classes to stay updated on technical knowledge and consistently meet time schedules and deadlines. Some outdoor cleaning and the use of ladders may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complete cleaning of assigned areas to include, but not limited to: Dusting and sanitizing furniture, equipment, mirrors and fixtures, Washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents and light fixtures, Sweeping, scrubbing and refinishing floors, Vacuuming and shampooing carpet, Re-stocking restrooms, Replacing light bulbs, Reporting repairs.
  • Assists with outdoor cleaning including parking lot, windows, and roof.
  • Uses a ladder for various cleaning activities.
  • Handles cleaning chemicals, disinfecting agents, floor strippers and finishes.
  • Removes waste by collecting and transporting soiled linen, emptying trash containers, changing sharps containers, transporting solid and hazardous waste to compactors, recycling material, and emptying cigarette receptacles.
  • Keeps equipment clean and orderly and reports equipment failures or other mechanical issues to maintenance staff.
  • Maintains a safe working environment and provides quality service by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, infection control guidelines, and meeting departmental quality standards.
  • Attends all required in-service education and training classes including safety update programs to maintain technical knowledge.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to meet time schedules and deadlines.
