About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. The role involves tasks such as emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines. The technician will demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment and apply this to provide a clean and sterile environment. Cleaning responsibilities may extend to patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards. The position requires wearing proper protective equipment, keeping storage and equipment clean and tidy, and using pagers and other technology appropriately. There may be opportunities to assist in laundry areas and use technology applications depending on location and program availability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
  • Ability to use computer.
  • Prior cleaning experience is helpful.
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas.
