Environmental Services Technician- FT- Evenings
About The Position
Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks include emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using various equipment. The role requires demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment. Cleaning may occur in patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas. The technician must wear proper protective equipment, keep storage areas stocked and tidy, and may use pagers and other technology. Assistance in laundry areas may also be required. Depending on location, access to technology applications may be available.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to use computer.
- Prior cleaning experience is helpful.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas.
- Following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.
- Emptying waste baskets.
- Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using brooms, mops, or powered machines.
- Demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment.
- Cleaning patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
- Wearing proper protective equipment.
- Keeping storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
- Using pagers and other technology appropriately.
- Assisting in laundry areas as appropriate.
- Using technology applications depending on location and availability.
