The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors, and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks include emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using various equipment. The role may involve cleaning various locations such as patient rooms, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, and other work areas to meet health standards. The technician will wear appropriate protective equipment, keep supplies stocked, and may use pagers and other technology. Responsibilities can also include assisting in laundry areas and potentially using technology applications. The job requires significant physical activity including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials, with the ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50 lbs and push/pull variable weights. The position requires being on feet for the majority of the shift and may involve exposure to noise from equipment. Work hours can vary based on patient/resident needs and may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
