Environmental Services Technician - PT Evenings
About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. Tasks include emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines. The role requires demonstrating knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools and techniques in a healthcare environment and applying this to provide a clean and sterile environment. Cleaning may occur in patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas. The technician will wear proper protective equipment, keep storage areas stocked and tidy, and may use pagers and other technology. Assistance in laundry areas may be required. Physical activities include considerable use of arms and legs, moving the whole body through climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials. The ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs and push/pull variable weight limits is necessary. The position requires being on feet for the majority of the shift and may involve exposure to noise from equipment. Work hours will vary depending on patient/resident needs and may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
- Ability to use computer.
- Prior cleaning experience is helpful.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods and cleaning chemicals is helpful.
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs.
- Ability to push/pull variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up and down ramps.
- Ability to be on feet for the majority of their shift.
- Ability to work evenings.
- Ability to work overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
