About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician maintains a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors, and associates, following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. The role includes cleaning and maintaining facility areas, handling waste, and using manual or powered equipment to clean floors. Depending on the location, work may also include assisting in laundry areas and using pagers or other technology as needed. The position is scheduled for 20 hours per week on evening shifts, with some weekend rotations and holidays.

Requirements

• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to use a computer.
• Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 40–50 pounds and push or pull variable weights on flat surfaces or ramps.
• Ability to remain on one's feet for the majority of the shift.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience.
• Prior cleaning experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning materials, equipment, methods, and chemicals.
• Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, sanitary, and clean environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas in accordance with infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.
• Empty waste baskets and clean floors by sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing, using brooms, mops, or powered machines.
• Clean areas such as patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
• Wear appropriate protective equipment and follow applicable guidelines.
• Keep storage areas, equipment, and carts stocked, clean, and tidy.
• Use pagers and other technology appropriately when needed.
• Assist in laundry areas as appropriate.
