The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors, and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines. This role involves tasks such as emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors using various equipment. The technician will demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment. Responsibilities may include cleaning patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards. The position requires wearing appropriate protective equipment, keeping storage areas stocked and tidy, and potentially using pagers and other technology. Some locations may offer access to technology applications. The role involves significant physical activity, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials, with the ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50lbs and push/pull variable weight limits. The technician will be on their feet for the majority of their shift and may be exposed to noise from equipment. Work hours can vary based on patient/resident needs and may include overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.
