About The Position

The Environmental Services Technician performs designated cleaning and sanitizing duties to maintain a clean, aseptic environment throughout the facility. The position is responsible for the cleanliness of the facility’s interior, including patient rooms, offices, clinical areas, waiting rooms, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, furniture, and equipment. The technician also helps maintain a positive physical and psychosocial environment for patients and must have an in-depth understanding of infection prevention and cleaning standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to reason independently and work with minimal guidance.
• Ability to interpret data and make sound judgments based on those interpretations.
• Ability to deal effectively with varied personalities and situations using tact, judgment, and poise.
• Ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities and schedules.
• Ability to maintain good working relationships and recognize the appropriate scope of authority.
• Accuracy in cleaning to support cleanliness, patient satisfaction, and infection prevention.
• Knowledge of Universal Precautions for Infection Prevention.
• Ability to plan responsively and determine when tasks can be performed or revisited.
• Ability to work cooperatively with patients, families, providers, and nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize designated areas throughout the facility, including patient rooms, offices, clinical areas, waiting rooms, lobbies, lounges, and restrooms.
• Clean furniture and equipment.
• Help maintain a positive physical and psychosocial environment for patients.
• Apply infection-prevention practices, including Universal Precautions, while performing cleaning tasks.
• Plan and adjust work in response to changing priorities and the needs of patients, staff, and guests.
• Ensure adequate supplies and equipment are available to complete assigned tasks.
• Work cooperatively with patients, families, providers, nursing staff, coworkers, and the general public.
