The Environmental Services Technician II, working evenings at Swedish Hospital in Chicago, IL, is a full-time position responsible for performing daily cleaning of patient rooms and ancillary areas according to departmental and corporate standards. This includes specialized cleaning for isolation/terminal rooms, including those with negative pressure/airborne pathogens, and cleaning of patient room equipment. The role ensures customer service quality standards are met and maintained by the Environmental Services Department. The technician is also responsible for maintaining the housekeeping cart and equipment, safely and cost-effectively utilizing cleaning chemicals, ensuring all chemicals are properly labeled, and maintaining adequate supplies of essential items like paper products and hand soap. They also manage sharps containers and may access secured medication storage areas. A key aspect of the role is fostering a positive, customer-service-oriented environment through teamwork, enthusiasm, pride in work, and a positive attitude. Daily communication with the manager is expected to exchange information, resolve concerns, and maintain service standards. The technician must also observe and report any needed repairs to equipment, furniture, fixtures, carpets, curtains, and walls. Adherence to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies, and procedures is required.
