About The Position

In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll oversee frontline environmental services teams to ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency. You’ll play a key part in scheduling, training, and supporting daily operations, helping create a safe and welcoming environment for all. Accountable for managing people, setting direction and deploying resources; typically is responsible for performance evaluation, pay reviews and hire/fire decisions. Results are primarily achieved through the work of others and typically depend on the manager's ability to influence and negotiate with parts of the organization. Progression within Career Band reflects acquisition of broad technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process and people leadership capabilities. Accountable for business, functional or operational areas, processes or programs, which may include dotted-line or matrixed management.

Requirements

Proven experience leading or supervising environmental services or custodial teams in a fast-paced setting.
Deep understanding of safety protocols and regulatory standards within facilities operations.
Multitasking skills with a focus on meeting deadlines and supporting operational goals.
Clear and confident communication skills with a sharp eye for detail.
Technical proficiency in custodial tools, processes, and systems to support daily operations.
High School/GED or associate’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

Provide custodial support for 7-12 buildings across the University at Buffalo campus, maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary facilities for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Oversee frontline environmental services teams to ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety, and efficiency.
Manage people, set direction, and deploy resources.
Conduct performance evaluations and pay reviews.
Make hire/fire decisions.
Support daily operations through scheduling, training, and other means.
Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all.
Support multiple assigned buildings.
