About The Position

The Institutional Services Assistant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of office buildings, classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, auditoriums, residence halls, dining facilities, common areas, and other assigned spaces. This position performs a variety of custodial and sanitation duties to support a safe, clean, and welcoming environment and operates in accordance with institutional policies and applicable state and federal regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous custodial, housekeeping, or general cleaning experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Removes and disposes of waste from receptacles; cleans, sanitizes, and relines trash containers daily or as needed; operates trash compactors.
• Cleans and dusts furniture, including desks, tables, cabinets, and other surfaces.
• Cleans walls, windows, window sills, stairwells, entryways, and other building surfaces as needed.
• Sweeps, mops, buffs, and vacuums floors; shampoos carpets; cleans baseboards; and dusts or wipes furniture, appliances, fixtures, ceiling fans, and whiteboards/blackboards.
• Strips, waxes, and buffs floors according to established schedules or as needed.
• Cleans and sanitizes restroom facilities and replenishes supplies, including soap, toilet tissue, and paper towels.
• Cleans and sanitizes areas requiring specialized cleaning methods, using appropriate cleaning agents, disinfectants, sterilization equipment, and procedures for handling and disposing of contaminated materials.
• Assists with the setup and breakdown of special events and performs post-event cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
