About The Position

UPMC Hamot is hiring a dedicated and hardworking Environmental Services Associate to help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The position is casual and works second-shift hours, with occasional weekend and rotating holiday coverage required.

The role cleans assigned areas—including patient rooms, public areas, offices, and equipment—to meet hospital and department standards and promote quality care. Duties may also include moving equipment, furniture, and boxes; removing and hanging blinds and curtains; washing walls; and spot-cleaning carpets. The associate may enter rooms where medications are stored but is not allowed to have contact with medications.

Requirements

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to complete housekeeping duties successfully.
• Ability to use housekeeping equipment.
• Act 34 clearance.
• No contact with medications is allowed.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices, and equipment, according to established procedures.
• Make beds in assigned patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms.
• Inspect assigned areas to ensure they are properly cleaned and in good repair, and report problems to the supervisor.
• Replenish paper towels, toilet paper, and soap in assigned areas.
• Maintain assigned equipment in clean, working condition, and report problems and suggestions to the supervisor.
• Remove trash from assigned areas.
• Follow safety and sanitation regulations.
• Move equipment, furniture, and boxes; wash walls; spot-clean carpets; and perform related assigned tasks.
• Remove and hang blinds and curtains.
