About The Position

As an Environmental Projects Construction Inspector for the Department of Environmental Protection, you will help guide projects that shape and protect the environment. These positions allow you to work outdoors, evaluate construction activities, and help ensure environmental protection. Requirements

• Two years of construction inspection experience on heavy construction projects such as dams, flood control projects, mine reclamation projects, treatment plants, hazardous waste projects, airports, highways or utility installations
• An Associate Degree in Building Construction Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, Construction Engineering Technology, or a closely related field
• An equivalent combination of experience and training
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree
• Possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license
• Meet the PA residency requirement

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of construction and reclamation projects to confirm compliance with permits, plans, and specifications
• Accept or reject materials and workmanship based on contract and permit standards
• Inspect erosion and sedimentation devices and ensure corrective actions are taken when needed
• Report unsafe conditions and require work to stop until hazards are corrected
• Check elevations, grades, and layouts using basic surveying tools and techniques
• Maintain detailed daily records and prepare required reports and estimates
