About The Position

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) is seeking an Environmental Inspector to join our growing team in Bridgeport, West Virginia. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of field-based environmental and infrastructure projects throughout the region, supporting pipeline construction, water infrastructure, site development, and energy projects while helping ensure environmental compliance and successful project delivery. Our Bridgeport office is one of the region's largest multidisciplinary engineering offices, bringing together more than 130 engineers, scientists, surveyors, and technical professionals. As part of our environmental team, you'll work alongside experienced professionals while gaining exposure to a wide variety of projects and industries throughout West Virginia and the surrounding region. Requirements

  • 2+ years of environmental inspection experience, with a focus on erosion and sediment control or pipeline-related projects preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and in varying weather conditions
  • Willingness to travel locally and work flexible hours, including weekends or rotating shifts as needed
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a 4-wheel drive vehicle
  • Ability to walk long distances and navigate uneven terrain
  • Experience using GPS or data collection devices (or willingness to learn)

Nice To Haves

  • Safeland or OSHA 10 certification preferred
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform on-site environmental inspections for projects including pipeline construction, water transfer systems, well pads, and roadway construction
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental permits, plans, and regulatory requirements
  • Inspect and document the installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control measures
  • Prepare daily field reports, documentation, and compliance records
  • Communicate with contractors, project managers, and environmental teams to address field issues and maintain project progress
  • Utilize GPS or data collection tools to document site conditions and activities
  • Support overall project compliance and environmental protection efforts
