This position's primary responsibility is respiratory fit testing (approximately 85%) to ensure compliance with 29CFR 1910.134 across the enterprise. The role may also involve various other safety duties to assist the Environmental Health and Safety Department (EH&S) in maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. These duties include recognizing, evaluating, monitoring, and controlling facility, operational, and environmental safety factors within a major health system and university with multiple buildings for patient care, medical education, and research. The position will plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct assigned portions of the Jefferson Health and Thomas Jefferson University safety programs. This includes fire and life safety, hazardous materials and chemical safety, emergency preparedness, ergonomics, accident/injury prevention, and staff training. The role will assist in overseeing accident & injury prevention programs, hazard surveillance surveys, emergency preparedness activities, and construction safety and Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM). The EHS Coordinator will also support and enforce regulatory requirements from The Joint Commission, PA Department of Health, OSHA, and local codes. Additionally, the position will provide education and hands-on training to staff, reinforcing work practice controls and personal protective equipment use to minimize injury risk.
