About The Position

The Environment, Health, & Safety Assistant Manager manages and coordinates safety and programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and an accident-free work environment for all employees. They implement accident prevention programs and coordinate and conduct trainings for employees at the facility.

Requirements

  • Proficient with PC skills (ex, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary languages in the workplace
  • HS Diploma/G.E.D Required
  • 6-9 years of experience in EHS, Safety, Workers' Compensation, and/or Training Required
  • Valid State Issued Driver's License Required

  • Competence in reacting and handling emergencies
  • Associate's Degree Preferred
  • 7-11 years of experience in EHS, Safety, Workers' Compensation, and/or Training Preferred
  • Hazmat, IPP, OSHA Certified Training or Certificate Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage Safety Programs
  • Encourage employees and supervisors to report any injury that occurs on the job immediately
  • Encourage employees and supervisors to report all unsafe conditions immediately and schedules or coordinates repairs as soon as possible
  • Coordinates with other department heads on design and construction of new equipment, facilities, and work methods to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations
  • Identifies potential safety hazards at facility, reports hazards and recommendations for eliminating/reducing to management
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of federal and OSHA regulations and websites, maintains up-to-date knowledge of safety codes and regulations, and distributes and/or posts new or revised safety standards that affect the company
  • Investigate all accidents and injuries, then recommend and/or coordinate corrective actions
  • Supervises, controls, and monitors rail safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, local, and OSHA rules and regulations
  • Implements and monitors the safety programs to reduce frequency of accidents and injuries, assists in minimizing overall workers' compensation cost
  • Training, Compliance Audit, and Reporting
  • Develop and/or update safety training programs designed to instruct employees in general safe work practices to include specific instruction with regards to hazards unique to any job assignment
  • Provides training for new employees
  • Follow up on corrective actions to verify they are effective and being used
  • Attend company meetings when relevant to safety
  • Other duties as assigned related to safety
