About The Position

CF&I Steel, L.P. is seeking an Entry CNC Operator to join the Roll Shop team in Pueblo, Colorado. The role is responsible for dressing and turning rolls for all Rolling Mills safely. The operator works with mill personnel to support production, provides technical assistance to the Rolling Mills, and helps maintain equipment and work areas. The position is in a physically demanding manufacturing environment with rotating shifts and exposure to industrial conditions.

Requirements

Must be a qualified CNC operator; 3–5 years of machining experience is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to read prints.
A two- or four-year degree in CNC Programming, Machining, or a related field.
Knowledge of tools and equipment used for industrial purposes.
Understanding of basic manufacturing processes and familiarity with heavy industry, manufacturing, mining, or a closely related field.
Ability to safely operate power and hand tools, machinery, and mobile equipment; 12 months of experience preferred.
Ability to manipulate numbers, quantities, shapes, and spaces; take simple measurements; and perform basic mathematical operations, including work with decimals and fractions.
Ability to communicate and understand information effectively and safely, including speaking over a public address system.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors amid elevated noise, extreme heat and cold, and physical hazards such as moving parts, hot surfaces, pinch points, sparks, sharp edges, and high-pressure air, oxygen, and gas lines; respirator use may be required depending on atmospheric conditions.
Ability to work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment involving repetition, climbing, kneeling, standing, crawling, and consistent exertion of forces of 50 pounds or more.
Must be willing to work varied shifts on a three-shift rotation and any days of the week.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Candidates must demonstrate aptitude through testing.

Nice To Haves

Valid driver’s license preferred; required for certain positions within the scope of Steel Production Worker.
12 months of experience operating power and hand tools, machinery, and mobile equipment is preferred.
Three to five years of machining experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Safely dress and turn rolls for all Rolling Mills.
Operate CNC lathes and grinders, cutting tools, templates, hand tools, measuring tools, and required safety equipment.
Direct Bearing Buildup personnel when loading and unloading the lathe.
Read prints and select programs, templates, and tools for lathe or grinder operations.
Turn rolls and check tolerances.
Handle rolls for shipment.
Provide information and technical assistance to the Rolling Mills.
Keep work areas and equipment clean and orderly.
Follow applicable standard operating procedures, safety rules, and lockout procedures.
Obtain and maintain OSHA 10 and equipment certifications as required.
Coordinate with mill personnel to maintain production while operating required equipment safely.
Perform routine maintenance and assist maintenance personnel.
Notify supervision and maintenance personnel of abnormal job or equipment conditions.
