About The Position

Aurora is seeking a Welder/Fabricator to support the hardware engineering team, focusing on first article products. This role functions primarily as a Certified Welder and fabricator within the fabrication shop, supporting the development of Aurora’s autonomous technology. The position involves collaborating cross-functionally, maintaining high standards of documentation and safety protocols, and operating with minimal supervision. The Welder/Fabricator will also partner with the R&D Manager to optimize shop operations and assist in other R&D shop units as needed, while actively pursuing professional growth.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of direct welding experience within an R&D or rapid prototyping environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret technical layouts, schematics, engineering drawings, and weld symbols.
  • Proven ability to program and run fabrication equipment, including WaterJets, Laser Cutters, Press Brakes, Plasma, and Powder Coating systems.
  • Hands-on skill with instrumentation, quality inspection tools, multimeters, and precision measurement equipment.
  • Perform quality control inspections on completed welds to verify structural integrity and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain, repair, and upgrade shop machinery as required.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks or Catia preferred).
  • Capability to design custom fixtures and components to assist in fabrication.
  • Thoroughly document and archive tooling designs, custom fixtures, and shop processes for future reference.
  • Proficiency using Windows and/or macOS environments alongside Google Workspace (especially Google Sheets & Docs).
  • Working knowledge of enterprise software tools such as Jira, Confluence, ERP, and PLM platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, craftsmanship, and personal accountability.
  • Strong problem-solving capability with a structured, analytical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, self-awareness, and team collaboration skills.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and willing to assist teammates in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

  • Recognized industry certifications (e.g., American Welding Society - AWS).
