About The Position

This position is primarily onsite, with the opportunity to work from home 1–2 days per week as business needs and job responsibilities permit. Under general supervision, performs professional engineering support for projects related to engineering and construction, property, right-of-way, distribution, and operations and maintenance. Senior-level positions Management may serve as the lead on assigned projects. Responsibilities include contract-related activities such as design, inspection, contract administration, scheduling, and forecasting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
• No related work experience is required. - Engineering Specialist
• Minimum 4 years of related work experience. – Engineering Sr. Specialist
• Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.
• Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Class ‘R’ Colorado driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project close-out quality assurance review duties.
• Assist with office design-related activities including calculations, project layout and design, and shop drawing review.
• Coordinate legal descriptions and documents relative to capital projects and/or the acquisition, relinquishment and management of right-of-way and property.
• Coordinate technicians involved in office or field activities in support of programs.
• Research records and compile information. Assist development and coordination of Engineering and Construction Standards.
• Conduct and assist in field and laboratory tests, field measurements, filing of reports, and record keeping.
• A general understanding of construction scenarios to make independent judgements in the field that lead to solutions beyond those that have been planned.
• Apply Engineering Standards, Construction Standards, and Operating Rules to a wide variety of project circumstances.
• Perform related work as required.
• Perform engineering-related construction contract-related activities including construction management and inspection, contract administration, schedules, and payment estimates.
• Implement and manage communication, projects, and program meetings.
• Prepare legal descriptions and documents relative to capital projects and/or the acquisition, relinquishment and management of right-of-way and property.
• Prepare material and quantity takeoffs, maps, and data.
• Perform independent manufacturer and product standard reviews.
• Acts as point of contact for Engineering Specialists throughout the organization to ensure that asset management programs and directives are complied with.
• Using technical and organizational knowledge to assess and assist data reporting needs, and system capabilities to deliver actionable information to key decision makers across Denver Water.
• Utilizing various industry standard reliability disciplines; selects, develops, implements, and standardizes programs to monitor the current state of the asset.
• Enables stakeholders to make decisions based on both qualitative and quantitative data.
• Allows for maintenance efforts to be more effectively used by streamlining processes and focusing on value-add actions that challenge the status quo.
• Data will be gathered using a wide variety of techniques including but not limited to; interviews, observations, surveys, and documents/records.
• The data will be verified for accuracy and uploaded to the appropriate database to fill gaps in knowledge and for further analysis.
• Prepares information for wider distribution, taking into consideration the stakeholders’ needs and interests.
• The information can be shared in several ways like reports, white papers, dashboards, and presentations.
• Each of these methods should be professional in both appearance and content and should include any required supporting information for any conclusions that are presented.
• This role is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of Denver Water’s CMMS Master Asset Registry, including required data attributes and processes for validating new digital records.
• The position oversees the commissioning and decommissioning of assets within the system of record and serves as the primary point of contact for digital asset change control.
• In addition, this role acts as the liaison between Operations & Maintenance and Engineering during the capital project transfer process, ensuring commissioning data, O&M manuals, and end-of-life information are complete before assets enter operations.
• Responsibilities include interpreting engineering drawings, providing accurate redline updates to as-built documentation, and managing the submittal process for facility drawing updates.
• The position also supports lifecycle-based document management through a centralized repository that keeps asset records, testing and maintenance documents, and formal condition assessments complete, structured, and AI-ready.
• The role performs analysis and develops comprehensive asset class reports and AI-supported technical documents that inform formal business cases for Denver Water’s EPMO capital projects.
• This work advances the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) and supports alignment with ISO 55001 information requirements.
