About The Position

The Senior Director, Asset Management provides senior-level oversight and strategic leadership for a large and complex commercial real estate loan servicing portfolio. This role is a co-lead position and will partner with a peer Senior Director to jointly lead an Asset Management team dedicated to the Freddie Mac portfolio, sharing accountability for strategic direction, operational standards, and performance culture. This role partners directly with agency representatives, internal credit and risk teams, borrowers, and executive leadership to manage portfolio risk, drive operational performance, and ensure compliance with investor and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Real Estate, or related field required.
  • Minimum 12+ years of progressive commercial real estate asset management or loan servicing experience.
  • At least 8–10 years of experience managing agency multifamily loan portfolios.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams of asset management professionals.
  • Significant experience managing distressed and special servicing situations, including loan workouts and dispositions.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable financial impact through portfolio risk management and recovery outcomes.
  • Deep knowledge of agency guidelines, multifamily loan structures, and servicing compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional analytical skills including financial modeling, property operating statement analysis, rent roll review, and complex scenario modeling.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills; ability to prioritize, delegate, and drive a high-performance culture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively present to senior executives, boards, agency partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Client-facing credibility with senior-stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency in loan servicing platforms, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and Argus (preferred).
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Co-lead end-to-end oversight of a large multifamily real estate loan portfolio, with primary accountability for process, risk identification, escalation, and strategy.
  • Establish and enforce asset management policies, procedures, and governance frameworks aligned with Freddie Mac lender requirements and investor guidelines.
  • Drive innovation and process improvements; identify technology solutions to achieve operational efficiencies.
  • Lead ongoing risk analysis across the loan portfolio, ensuring timely risk detection, appropriate monitoring, and escalation of heightened criticized and special servicing situations.
  • Monitor exception reports and controls to ensure data accuracy, process adherence, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop quality assurance procedures and standards; communicate risk findings to senior leadership.
  • Partner with horizontal leadership to develop portfolio and industry reviews that forecast emerging themes, risks, and opportunities.
  • Co-lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing asset management team, fostering a culture of professional development, innovation, and accountability.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set individual and team objectives, and provide on-going coaching and training on risk mitigation, agency guidelines, and market trends.
  • Build cross-functional partnerships with originations, underwriting, closing, credit, compliance, and legal teams.
  • Foster and maintain strong working relationships with Freddie Mac, and other agency or investor partners.
  • Manage borrower relationships, providing exceptional customer service while upholding loan document requirements and investor obligations.
  • Hold the designated Chief Servicing Officer role for Freddie Mac, representing the firm’s platform at industry events and conferences.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level reporting on portfolio performance, risk trends, watch list composition, and action plan status.
  • Ensure servicing processes, procedures, and reporting adhere to agency requirements and drive continuous process improvement.
  • Participate in and assist with regulatory examinations, internal audits, and investor reviews as required.
