About The Position

TJM Labs is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead engineering leads and senior engineers building its pharmacy automation platform. The manager owns team delivery, employee growth, and the processes that keep the team reliable, working closely with the Director of Engineering, Product, pharmacists, and customer-facing teams. The role calls for a technically credible people manager who builds teams as well as software, provides direct feedback, and takes ownership when commitments are at risk.

Requirements

At least 6 years of engineering experience, including at least 2 years managing engineers, ideally including team leads; scope is weighted more heavily than years.
Experience owning delivery for a domain, making realistic commitments, and tracking risks early.
Technical judgment to participate in design reviews, challenge estimates, and guide teams through trade-offs.
Experience hiring, coaching, and developing engineers, and handling performance issues with care and clarity.
Strong partnership skills with Product, customer-facing teams, and other engineering leaders.
Clear written and verbal English communication and comfort working on a remote team.

Responsibilities

Manage engineering leads and senior engineers through regular one-on-ones and clear expectations.
Own delivery for the team's domain, including commitments, milestones, dependencies, and risk.
Support team growth through performance reviews, calibration, and promotions.
Hire and onboard engineers.
Own team processes, including planning, retrospectives, on-call, and incident follow-through.
Provide technical judgment in design reviews and help teams balance delivery speed with long-term health.
Partner with Product, pharmacists, and customer-facing teams to align priorities and capacity.
