About The Position

RM is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead an engineering team and guide projects from start to finish, ensuring key features are integrated throughout their lifecycle. The role involves leading the development of scalable, reliable applications and applying software design principles such as domain-driven design (DDD). The Engineering Manager mentors and supports engineers, promotes coding standards and best practices, and helps maintain high levels of code quality and performance. The position is within RM’s assessment business, which provides digital assessment, online testing, marking, and educational data solutions.

Requirements

• Substantial professional experience with .NET.
• Prior experience in a technical leadership role.
• Proficiency developing scalable software for large codebases.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Demonstrated commitment to Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Deep knowledge of at least one major cloud provider.
• Experience designing, understanding, and troubleshooting complex distributed systems.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of security, networking, and database concepts.
• Familiarity with standard project lifecycle processes.
• Proficiency in Docker.
• Strong skills in clean code architecture, application and systems architecture, and principles or methodologies such as SOLID and DDD.
• Commitment to high standards for code quality, testing, and iterative, continuous delivery.
• Excellent collaboration skills for pair programming and code reviews.
• Experience monitoring, alerting, and debugging high-volume production systems.
• Proactive and inquisitive approach, with willingness to undertake varied responsibilities.

• Previous experience in data warehousing or adjacent methodologies or technologies.
