Engineering Manager, International Expansion
About The Position

The International and Growth engineering team's mission is to expand Robinhood's products globally and scale the platform to support millions of new customers in diverse markets. This involves building and maintaining experiences across onboarding, funding, account setup, localized product experiences, growth incentives, and platform capabilities to operate in new jurisdictions. The team partners closely with product, design, compliance, marketing, and platform engineering teams to launch new products and optimize user acquisition globally, prioritizing technical rigor, system reliability, and quick execution. The culture is centered on clear communication, strong team partnership, and a commitment to helping people manage their financial lives. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of software developers to drive critical international launch initiatives. Responsibilities include driving the architecture and execution for launching Robinhood Crypto and other products in new regions, shaping reusable systems for faster, safer, and more scalable future launches. You will guide technical execution, review system architectures, and ensure services remain highly performant and secure at scale. This role also involves recruiting, mentoring, and supporting the career progression of engineers, and collaborating with product managers, compliance partners, and other team leads to define technical strategy and deliver features on schedule. Your leadership will directly shape platform scaling and the delivery of a reliable financial experience to a global community. This role is based in the New York, NY office, with a 5-day per week in-person attendance expectation. Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years of experience managing engineering teams.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams to ship complex products, including end-to-end management from concept to launch, and ensuring high-quality, reliable user experiences post-deployment.
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Experience delivering complex technical projects from initial planning through execution and deployment.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and business partners to explain technical decisions and trade-offs.
- Experience supporting team development through regular coaching, mentoring, and feedback.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support your team of developers, providing clear goals, regular feedback, and structured growth plans.
- Define technical direction and prioritize work with product managers and partner teams to scale international products and systems.
- Ensure backend services and localized products are designed for high availability, performance, and security.
- Manage hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations for engineers on your team.
- Coordinate with product, design, and other engineering leads to deliver critical initiatives on schedule and meet defined business metrics.
