About The Position

TYLin is seeking an Engineering Intern to join its Rochester, New York office for Summer 2027. The intern will gain hands-on experience with diverse building projects and work with a collaborative project team. TYLin's structural engineering work for vertical structures includes new construction, renovation, adaptive reuse, and historic preservation. The internship provides an opportunity to expand engineering knowledge and develop practical skills.

Requirements

Be a third-year undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited Civil Engineering program or an Architectural Engineering program focused on structures.
Complete at least one steel or concrete design class; completion of both classes is preferred.
Have experience with MS Word, Excel, and engineering software.
Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Be able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with a team.
Demonstrate integrity and ethical, fair, and responsible behavior.
Show commitment to innovation and continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with REVIT Structure.
Co-op or internship experience related to commercial, institutional, or residential buildings.
Completion of both steel and concrete design classes.

Responsibilities

Assist the project team in preparing structural designs and drawings for commercial, institutional, residential, and other buildings, from conceptual and preliminary design through construction.
Perform field reviews for projects under construction and visit existing buildings to document conditions.
Become familiar with engineering plans and details.
Assist with computer modeling and hand calculations.
