About The Position

TYLin is seeking an Engineering Intern to join its Chicago, Illinois office for the Summer of 2027. The intern will gain hands-on experience on diverse building projects and work with a collaborative team. TYLin’s structural engineering work for vertical structures includes new construction, renovation, adaptive reuse, and historic preservation. Requirements

Currently be a third-year undergraduate or a graduate student in an accredited Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering program focused on structures.
Have completed at least one steel or concrete design class.
Have experience with MS Word, Excel, and engineering software.
Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Be able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrate integrity and ethical, fair, and responsible behavior.
Show commitment to innovation and continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

Completion of both steel and concrete design classes is preferred.
Familiarity with REVIT Structure is beneficial.
Co-op or internship experience related to commercial, institutional, or residential buildings is an asset.

Responsibilities

Assist the project team with preparing structural designs and drawings for commercial, institutional, residential, and other buildings, from conceptual and preliminary design through construction.
Perform field reviews of projects under construction and/or visit existing buildings to document existing conditions.
Become familiar with engineering plans and details.
Assist with computer modeling and hand calculations.
