About The Position

TYLin is seeking a Buildings Engineering Intern for its Los Angeles, California office for Summer 2027. The intern will work with a collaborative project team on structural engineering projects for vertical structures, including new construction, renovation, adaptive reuse, and historic preservation. The internship provides hands-on project experience and opportunities to build knowledge and develop professional skills. Requirements

Current third-year undergraduate standing or graduate student standing in an accredited Civil Engineering program or an Architectural Engineering program focused on structures.
Completion of at least one steel or concrete design class is required.
Experience with MS Word, Excel, and engineering software.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation and professional interaction with clients and colleagues.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team.
Demonstrated integrity and ethical, fair, and responsible behavior.
Commitment to innovation and continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

Completion of both steel and concrete design classes is preferred.
Familiarity with REVIT Structure.
Co-op or internship experience related to commercial, institutional, or residential buildings.

Responsibilities

Assist the project team in preparing structural designs and building drawings for commercial, institutional, residential, and other projects, from conceptual and preliminary design through construction.
Perform field reviews for projects under construction and/or visit existing buildings to document existing conditions.
Become familiar with engineering plans and details.
Assist with computer modeling and hand calculations.
