Engineer, Systems & Tools

Anduril•Costa Mesa, CA

About The Position

Anduril's Hardware Platform organization is seeking an Engineer to join its Engineering Systems & Tools team. The team optimizes hardware design and development by implementing and managing engineering software solutions, ensuring design workflows are efficient, scalable, and aligned with industry standards. In this role, you will contribute to the internal development, deployment, and adoption of Anduril's CAD, PLM, and broader design engineering software ecosystem. You will apply technical and analytical skills to improve business outcomes and the tools used by engineers. You will partner with hardware engineering and software leadership to shape design engineering software strategies, collaborate across functions to align the tools roadmap with business goals, and keep processes current with industry practices. The role also drives adoption of engineering software, gathers user feedback, addresses workflow pain points through tools and automation, establishes CAD/PLM standards and data governance, and maintains documentation of software instructions and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, User Experience Design, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a hardware design engineering environment, including familiarity with CAD, PLM, and PDM systems and how they interface with one another and with downstream operations.
  • High user empathy and the ability to manage and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly understand design engineering workflows and potential issues across the product development lifecycle.
  • Strength working with hardware engineering leadership to conceptualize solutions and understand requirements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment and lead cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hardware development environment.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience administering or architecting enterprise CAD and PLM platforms, such as Teamcenter, NX, Enovia, or 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • Programming or scripting experience with Python, C#, VBA, or CAD/PLM-specific APIs to build automations and integrations.
  • Experience deploying or scaling engineering tools across multi-site or rapidly growing organizations.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Definition (MBD), configuration management, and engineering change processes.
  • Prior experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or other regulated hardware industries.
  • Exposure to integrations between design engineering tools and downstream MES/ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work with hardware engineering and software leadership to develop and implement design engineering software strategies that enhance productivity, reduce cycle times, and improve design quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align the design engineering tools roadmap with overall business objectives.
  • Monitor industry trends and best practices to keep hardware design processes current.
  • Drive adoption of CAD, PLM, PDM, and related engineering software solutions, and own the feedback loop between users and developers.
  • Partner with design engineers to understand workflow pain points and translate them into improvements in tools, templates, and automation.
  • Define and enforce CAD/PLM standards, data governance, and best practices across hardware engineering teams.
  • Create and maintain documentation of design engineering software instructions and best practices.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as comprehensive and competitive and available at little to no cost to employees.
