About The Position

Duke Energy is hiring a Component Engineer for the Maintenance Support Engineer Team at ONS. The position manages assigned mechanical components to support equipment reliability and compliance with existing programs and commitments. The successful candidate will provide component expertise, monitor and trend equipment performance, coordinate vendor work and onsite testing, and work across departments to manage concerns, schedules, budgets, and related issues. The role also supports regulatory compliance and evaluates operating experience and maintenance program performance to improve component performance. The position is classified at the advancing level of the Engineering hierarchy, with the hiring level dependent on the successful applicant’s qualifications. Engineer III candidates work on complex engineering problems with general supervision; Senior Engineer candidates manage specialized engineering work with minimal supervision and are expected to work independently on all but unusual or complex issues. The position reports to the Maintenance Support Engineering Manager. Work is hybrid after onboarding, combining remote work with work onsite at a designated Duke Energy facility. Hybrid employees must live within a reasonable commute of no more than 50 miles one way and are expected to work onsite an average of three full workdays per regular workweek. The environment is typically an office, with some plant observation work and occasional travel.
