About The Position

This position performs engineering work in Duke Energy Carolinas Area Planning to support reliable expansion of the electric transmission system. At the Engineer III level, the role solves complex problems in an engineering specialization with limited supervision, applying fundamental concepts and procedures to increasingly complex and varied work while developing advanced skills and independence. At the Senior Engineer level, the role manages specialized engineering work with minimal supervision, independently identifies problems, develops solutions, and takes action to resolve them, seeking guidance mainly for unusual or complex projects or issues. The role conducts transmission planning studies, develops and maintains system models, coordinates with internal departments and external stakeholders, and provides technical expertise on issues of increasing scope and complexity. It also supports regulatory alignment, interconnection studies for large-load facilities, and effective planning and delivery of engineering projects. The position is hybrid: work is performed remotely and onsite after onboarding, with employees expected to work at their assigned Duke Energy facility an average of three full workdays per regular workweek and live within a reasonable commute of no more than 50 miles one way.
