About The Position

Duke Energy is hiring an Electrical Engineer for the Operations Support Engineering (OSE) Electrical team at ONS. The position supports equipment reliability and component maintenance and planning, with responsibility for electrical systems and/or components of varying complexity. The engineer serves as a site subject matter expert for assigned areas and coordinates with Design, Maintenance, Operations, and other departments to manage concerns, schedules, budgets, and related work. This role is offered at either the Engineer III or Senior Engineer level, depending on the successful applicant’s qualifications. Engineer III employees solve complex engineering problems with general supervision and develop greater independence. Senior Engineers manage specialized engineering work with minimal supervision, identify and resolve problems, and may work independently except on unusual or complex matters. The work includes providing technical guidance, conducting engineering studies, preparing technical documentation and calculations, and completing projects with increasing independence. The role is hybrid after onboarding and requires employees to live within a reasonable commute—no more than 50 miles one way—of their designated Duke Energy facility. Employees are expected to report to that facility as directed, averaging three full workdays per regular workweek. Some business units may require visits to field sites or plants. Travel is 5–15%.
