About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking an Engineer II, Mechanical Design Engineering, for its Mechanical Power Conversion (MPC) division. The role designs mechanical test equipment and systems used in production, research and development, and qualification testing of advanced military and commercial aerospace products, including fuel pumps, air turbine starters and blowers, engine and airframe gearboxes, and lube and scavenge pumps. The position is onsite in Rockford, Illinois, and requires U.S. citizenship because only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under the program or contract. No security clearance is required. The engineer researches, plans, designs, and develops test equipment for mechanical, thermodynamic, hydraulic, and power-transmission applications. The role documents designs, leads test-equipment build and commissioning activities, reviews test results, and develops performance, maintenance, and calibration requirements. The engineer collaborates independently and with cross-functional teams to meet specifications, contracts, quality standards, schedules, and budgets, while supporting continuous improvement and product-quality activities. The position offers the opportunity to build in-depth knowledge of MPC products and their testing, and to manage projects from inception to completion, including the planning, execution, and delivery of multimillion-dollar test stands and equipment.
