About The Position

The F135 Fan design team is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineering professional to support critical engineering tasks throughout the design cycle. The role collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to enhance product performance, optimize design processes, and support customer satisfaction. It provides design support from preliminary and detailed design through validation, manufacturing, and operational service, with work on fan-module components including cases, frames, integrally bladed rotors (IBRs), bypass ducts, and kinematics. The position supports the installed F135 fleet by optimizing components and improving commonality for current and future business and customer needs. It also works to expand repairability and maintainability for military customers and MRO facilities, including testing and verification related to field issues. The engineer develops and implements common procedures and standard work, creates and reviews component layouts, calculates detail-component stack-ups, and performs cost studies. The role resolves difficult-to-complex design problems, coordinates interrelated designs with other engineering personnel, provides technical leadership on Integrated Product Teams, and helps train less experienced engineers. Compression Systems Engineering designs, develops, and supports in service the fans and low- and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models, and identifies and matures new technologies for these products. This position is onsite in Middletown, Connecticut. U.S. citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required; no clearance is currently required.
