About The Position

This is the fifth level of the Engineering classification. The Engineer 5 provides engineering and technical expertise to solve the most complex problems and demonstrates leadership in a specific area of expertise, with wide latitude for unreviewed work. Incumbents are expected to have advanced skills, work independently, and be industry experts in their discipline or a particular field.

Requirements

Minimum 12 years of experience as a practicing engineer.
State registration as a Professional Engineer.
Expertise in engineering theories and principles.
Expertise in researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations.
Ability to work with individuals from a variety of socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership within the utility industry.
Self-motivated, able to work independently, team-oriented, and customer-oriented.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and provide leadership to other team members.

Responsibilities

Coach and mentor other Engineering professionals.
Review the work of subordinate Engineering professionals.
Provide technical leadership and direction at a corporate or industry level in the area of expertise.
Provide engineering and technical expertise and guidance in identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems.
Plan, organize, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities effectively.
Prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
Continuously improve job-related engineering, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Maintain accurate records and files.
Perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
