About The Position

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our team specializing in engine repairs for our Distribution Business in Odessa, TX. In this role, you will make an impact by completing troubleshooting, repairs, and rebuilds on engine products and other customer equipment in a service shop. You will also perform preventative maintenance based on assessment of engines, utilizing computers and software for diagnostic work. The role involves applying documented procedures and policies to complete complex repairs, identifying and preparing required parts and tools, and completing required documentation. Ongoing training and additional certifications on new and existing Cummins products are provided. You will adhere to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, and legislation and report any issues/incidents to your supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimal level of work shop experience required.
  • Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
  • A current valid license is required for this role.
  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations.
  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
  • 3 years driving experience.
  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use.
  • Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

  • Complete troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products and other customer equipment in a service shop.
  • Perform preventative maintenance based on assessment of engines, including utilizing computers/software in the process of diagnostic work.
  • Apply documented procedures and policies to complete complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
  • Completing required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
  • Ongoing training and additional certifications on new and existing Cummins products.
  • Adhere to all our relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor.
  • Disassemble, inspect, clean and reassemble engines and /or engine components.
  • Assists more experienced technicians with diagnostics and development of repair plans engines in the workshop.
  • Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
